Being 9/11,  today is Patriot Day, a day to remember the 2,993 killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks.  Nine years later and this event is still fresh in everyone’s minds.  It has not gone forgotten.

Today is Rosh Hashanah, or Jewish New Year – actually it began last night at sunset.   Rosh Hashanah is a High Holy Day for Jews worldwide, beginning the ten “Days of Awe” culminating in Yom Kippur.

Today is Flag Day In The USA!!!!

Flag Day may be overlooked in some parts of the country, but where I live – the home place of Uncle Sam, and the town that hosts the country’s largest Flag Day parade – it’s a big thing!

National Tartan Week is for celebrating Scottish Heritage.

Tartan is the pattern, seen on Scottish kilts, of overlapping vertical and horizontal lines.  We American’s like to call that pattern plaid.
