Did you know Einstein was left handed? or Alexander the Great? or Aristotle? or Joan of Arc? or Mahatma Ghandi? or Bill Gates? or Ben Franklin? or Thomas Jefferson? or Julius Caesar? or Leonardo da Vinci? or Oprah Winfrey?
I didn’t know any of them were, until today. What better day to have learned that then National Left Hander’s Day!
Sponsered by the Tolkien Society, today is Tolkien reading Day. It’s not J.R.R. Tolkien’s birthday, and it’s not the anniversary of his death. It’s not Frodo’s birthday, or the day Lord of the Rings was published. Today, March 25th, marks the Downfall of Sauron.
There are many great pages I can recommend for Tolkien Reading Day, so I have decided to direct you to one that features many others. Take a look at these LOTR lenses by Tinw.
Today is National Quilting Day. I have always been in love with quilts, but have never actually done any quilting myself (maybe I should change that). They are such an artwork!

Hey there. I am proud to present to you Squid Calendar, the blog that delivers you a lens or three every day on some topic that is of interest today – whether today is Christmas, Chinese New Year, or National Bubble Gum Day.
Every day I will post about something of interest today – as in on today’s date. It may be a national holiday or a local celebration – as long as it happens today.
